Matt, along with the close-knit Black Box team, is currently serving as the exclusive Consulting Producer for ‘Take My Hand’, the feature film biopic (and concurrent Broadway play with music) of Gospel Blues pioneer Thomas A. Dorsey, all based on his unpublished memoirs and in close collaboration with the family.

Matt’s producing career is noted for innovation and a commitment to elevating new and under-produced theatrical works. After founding the Black Box Performing Arts Center, 2014-2022, he spearheaded eight+ seasons of groundbreaking theater on top of 15+ years of impactful educational programs. His productions have featured collaborations with acclaimed writers and celebrated talent, alternating evenings of theater, music, and comedy to offer an ongoing series of dynamic, audience-pleasing performances. Under his leadership, Black Box  (currently sharing space within Teaneck’s Debonair Music Hall) has remained a hub for creative exploration, showcasing works that engage diverse audiences and foster a collaborative artistic environment.

Matt has produced an impressive array of theatrical works that showcase his commitment to both classic and contemporary productions. Notable shows include: Buried Child, Cloud 9, Hair, Bad Jews, Significant Other, Disgraced, How To Transcend A Happy Marriage, and the NJ premiere of Edward Albee’s The Play About The Baby. In recent seasons, BB has also brought music and comedy to Northern, NJ, including residencies from guitarist Reeves Gabrels (The Cure/David Bowie) comedian Elon Gold, noted recording artist Matisyahu, and many more.
